Alex has been teaching music theory and aural skills for both major and non-major students at the University of Maryland College Park. 

He also worked with the Music School of Delaware, the University of Delaware Community Music School, and the University of Delaware Children’s Choirs as a collaborative pianist and piano instructor. He is versatile and be able to adjust his style of teaching to meet the needs of diverse groups of students. Bi has been invited for talks/presentations on topics of music theory and compositional skills across the world.

As the former choir director at St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church, Mr. Bi coached the choir and led them went through the toughest time during the pandemic. With music technology and production skills, Alex founded the SMA Virtual Choir and maintained the weekly performance during Sunday services by recording, arranging, and mixing traditional and contemporary hymns.

All the teaching and working experience has enriched Alex’s passion and skills as an intelligent instructor in piano performance, music theory, and composition.
